EOI for Chairperson of Mining and Petroleum Competence Board

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified people for consideration for appointment as independent Chairperson of the Mining and Petroleum Competence Board.

The Board is a Minister-appointed statutory body established under the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act 2013 to:

  • oversee the development of competence standards for persons exercising functions at a mine or petroleum site that may impact on the health and safety of any person
  • undertake initial and ongoing assessments of the competence of persons exercising any such function
  • advise the Minister on matters related to the competence required of persons to exercise any such function.

The Board’s membership is made up of high-level stakeholders representing employers and workers within the industry and independent people who have expertise that would be of assistance to the Board.

Applicants need to provide referees and evidence of how they satisfy the appointment criteria (PDF, 144.65 KB)

The Chairperson must be independent of the mining industry stakeholder organisations and registered training organisations that service the mining industry. Appointment is for a term of up to three years.
