Reapplying requirements
You must reapply for a certificate of competence to sit an examination if you were found not yet competent on the previous attempt. The exception is previous candidates who sat under the pre 2022/23 exam rules which gave them a credit to complete the exams within a specified 3 year period.
New applicants from 2022/2023 financial year (after 1 July 2022)
- Must apply to sit both written and oral exams as applicable in that year
- If assessed as not yet competent, they must reapply for the next round of exams in the following year for the same function.
Third round examinations (after 1 July 2024)
- Applicants attempting their third round of exams for a function scheduled after 1 July 2024 have an additional requirement. They must complete and attach the form Plan to prepare for third or more attempt of certificate of competence examinations (DOCX, 71.23 KB) to their online application
Situations requiring registering for the exam (within last 3 years before 2022/23)
- Found Not Yet Competent: If you sat a written or oral exam and were assessed as not yet competent.
- Approved for Examination: If you were approved to sit an examination for a certificate of competence.
- Deferred First Oral Examination: If you deferred your first oral examination attempt.
