Code of practice for construction, operation and decommissioning of petroleum wells
The NSW code of practice for construction, operation and decommissioning of petroleum wells now applies as a condition of all onshore petroleum titles in NSW.
It provides a minimum set of mandatory requirements to ensure that petroleum wells are designed, constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned to ensure their long-term integrity in NSW. The code also advises on how good industry practice can be applied by titleholders.
The code has replaced the former well integrity and fracture stimulation codes for coal seam gas and now applies to all onshore petroleum activities.
