The Resources Regulator has issued a safety alert after a swinging load hit a worker, injuring him at an open-cut coal mine in NSW.
On 23 September 2024, workers at the mine were replacing a rear suspension strut on a haul truck. The strut was secured by a lower pin, and pivoted back onto a worker in the access platform resulting in a serious laceration to his upper leg.
Following an investigation, the Regulator has issued several recommendations for mine operators, which includes fully training workers before such activities are undertaken.
